Spring Branch Education Foundation supporters will travel back to the future on Saturday, Nov. 9, when Chairs Linda and Tom DeBesse host the Totally 80s Gala. Spring Branch ISD Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Blaine and her husband, Will, are on board as honorary chairs for a fun evening with a purpose. All proceeds will fund grants and scholarships for SBISD’s 35,000 students.

“As the cost of educating our children continues to rise, the support SBEF provides SBISD is critical,” Tom DeBesse said. “With the community’s generosity, as Gala underwriters and participants, we can make a significant difference in the lives of students and teachers throughout the district.”

The community is already offering its support. H-E-B is the returning presenting sponsor at the Top Gun $25,000 level. The grocer is joined by PBK Architects at the Back to the Future $10,000 level. Paradigm Consulting Inc. is the $5,000 Live Entertainment sponsor, and Chapelwood UMC is the evening’s water bottle sponsor. Other underwriting opportunities are available.

The gala chairs and committee are planning an exciting event. In addition to a room full of games, the auction is, to borrow from the ’80s, bad to the bone. Linda DeBesse offered a sneak peak, “Winners will walk away with a night at an Astros game, including a ride to the park in a limo and a suite filled with food and drink. Others will enjoy a hunt on an 1800-acre ranch or a trip to Dublin and Belfast for a Game of Thrones experience. The items just keep coming in.”

Molly and the Ringwalds will keep partygoers on the Royal Sonesta dance floor.

Tapped to assist the DeBesse family in planning the event are: auction chair Jennifer Evans; decorations chairs Sarah Davidson and Kate Ghazi; PTA basket chairs Kristin Anderson and Megan Kessler; Suzanne Stiles, special events chair; Andrea Bishop, Minda Caesar, Susan Marks and Lisa Schwartz.
