At the September Board of Trustees meeting, the Spring Branch Independent School District (SBISD) was proudly recognized for receiving the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 32nd consecutive year from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada. This esteemed award honors SBISD's comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023.
This certificate represents the highest standard in governmental accounting and financial reporting. An independent panel evaluated SBISD's report, affirming its compliance with rigorous criteria that reflect a strong commitment to transparency and effective communication of the district's financial story.
"I am immensely proud of our team's achievements and honored to be part of SBISD’s legacy of exceptional fiscal management," said Christine Porter, Associate Superintendent for Finance. "The expertise and dedication our staff demonstrate every day to support our students and families are truly commendable."
Tera Harris, Director of Accounting, echoed this sentiment: "The GFOA Certificate of Achievement awarded to SBISD is a testament to the hard work and contributions of every member of our Finance team. We embody the district’s core value of Collective Greatness, where each person's efforts matter, and I am proud to be part of such excellence!"
David Bender, SBISD Controller, emphasized the importance of trust: "SBISD Finance values the credibility we maintain with our stakeholders. We are grateful for this recognition from the leading government finance association, which highlights our commitment to transparency and full disclosure."
Since 1945, the GFOA has encouraged state and local governments to exceed the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles by producing annual comprehensive financial reports that reflect accountability and transparency.
