SBISD Board of Trustees adopts tax rate of $1.0231

Homeowners in Spring Branch ISD (SBISD) will see a $0.0533 reduction in the district tax rate from last year. At their Sept. 29 regular meeting, Trustees voted unanimously (7-0) to adopt the tax rate of $1.0231 for the 2025-26 fiscal year.

The actual impact on a local property owner’s tax statement is dependent on the taxable value of their specific property as set by the Harris Central Appraisal District. The levy will be calculated based on the tax rate of $1.0231 per $100 of taxable value.

The tax rate is comprised of the maintenance and operations, or General Fund, tax rate of .7186 per $100 of assessed valuation, which is 5.33 cents per $100 valuation less than last year's rate. The Interest and Sinking, or Debt Service,  tax rate of .3045 per $100 of assessed valuation remains the same as last year.

Among area school districts, SBISD remains one of the few in Harris County to offer every tax break allowed by law, including the local optional 20 percent homestead exemption.

In addition, the school tax levy (payment) remains frozen for our taxpayers with the over-65 or disabled persons exemptions. These frozen levies will continue to be lowered in response to both SB 12 passed in 2021 and SB 2 passed in 2023. The tax rate also assumes voter approval of a constitutional amendment in November 2025 affirming SB 4 and SB 23 passed in the 89th Texas Legislative Session earlier this year.
