Spring Branch ISD Board of Trustees adopts tax rate of $1.0764

Homeowners in Spring Branch ISD (SBISD) will see a $0.0025 reduction in the district tax rate from last year. At their Sept. 23 regular meeting, Trustees voted unanimously (7-0) to adopt the tax rate of $1.0764 for the 2024-25 fiscal year.

The actual impact on a local property owner’s tax statement is dependent on the taxable value of theirspecific property as set by the Harris Central Appraisal District. The levy will be calculated based on the tax rate of $1.0764 per $100 of taxable value.

Among area school districts, SBISD remains one of the few in Harris County to offer every tax break allowed by law, including the local optional 20 percent homestead exemption.

Based on the estimated tax levy on a $500,000 home, SBISD homeowners continue to have the third lowest tax burden in the region – less than Katy, Cypress Fairbanks, Fort Bend or many other similar suburban ISDs.

In addition, the school tax levy (payment) remains frozen for our taxpayers with the over-65 or disabled persons exemptions. These frozen levies will continue to be lowered in response to both SB 12 passed in 2021, and SB 2 passed in 2023.
