Spring Branch ISD Board of Trustees members sworn in, officers elected

Two Spring Branch ISD Board of Trustees members were sworn in, and the board elected new officers when trustees met Tuesday evening to canvass results from the Saturday, May 4, Board of Trustees election. A canvass verifies that votes were correctly counted during the election.

On May 4, David Slattery was elected to the Position 3 seat on the board and Christopher Earnest, who was running unopposed, was elected to the Position 4 seat. Each board member serves a three-year term.

David Slattery and wife Lisa have been residents of Spring Branch since 1987.  David is an architect and has been managing partner of Slattery Tackett Architects, LLP for over 30 years.  Their three adult children and son-in-law are all graduates of SBISD schools, and they have two granddaughters who live in the Stratford attendance zone.  Lisa recently retired after teaching at Spring Woods High School for 18 years.

“I am committed to the success of Every Child in SBISD,” said Slattery, “both in the classroom and beyond, as we watch our students flourish after graduation.  It is gratifying to know they are fully prepared for the journey ahead.”

Since 2008, Chris Earnest and his wife Meredith have been integral members of the district. His service on the school board commenced with his election in 2021. Mr. Earnest brings his expertise as a partner in a national firm, where he specializes in compensation and board-related governance matters, overseeing the Houston office.

In addition to his professional commitments, he remains deeply involved in community initiatives through Post Oak Little League, SBMSA, and as a deacon at Second Baptist Church. Together with Meredith, they raise a family of five children, all actively engaged in SBISD schools.

"I am excited about the opportunity to continue my service to the amazing Spring Branch community. I am committed to ensuring Every Child in SBISD receives the resources and support needed to achieve their fullest potential," said Earnest.

Family, friends and supporters joined the new trustees at the May 14 ceremony. Board members welcomed and congratulated the new trustees.

The SBISD Board of Trustees also elects new officers annually after new members are sworn in.

Trustee Lisa Andrews Alpe was elected president. Trustee Courtney Anderson was elected vice president, and Shannon Mahan was elected as secretary.
