Anna Graber, Memorial High School
Q: How do you think the Memorial High School community has helped prepare you for future success?
A: As a member of the Project Advisory Committee for the recent construction of Memorial’s new building, I learned the importance of creating a space that would serve the needs of every member of the Memorial community, even when those desires were different from my own. My service on the committee taught me that no decision could be made in a vacuum because the impact of sometimes small decisions can be far-reaching.

Q: Which teachers or school leaders helped you become academically prepared and a resourceful problem solver throughout your time in SBISD?
A: My theater teacher, Ms. Cutler, and my tennis coach, Coach Germer, prepared me to become the best representation of a student-athlete and performer. They pushed me to balance my time wisely, which allowed me to be a part of the two organizations while also excelling in both academics and extracurriculars.
Emanuel Galdino, Stratford High School
Q: Which teachers or school leaders helped you become academically prepared and a resourceful problem solver throughout your time in SBISD? Please explain how.
A: As I prepare to enter my next chapter, I know that there will be challenges. But I am ready. The Stratford community has prepared me to adapt to change, face difficulties, and realize how much is possible if you believe in yourself. I came to this area without English and without much experience in education. School was difficult ... communication was difficult. But this community welcomed me.

Q: How do you think the Stratford High School community has helped prepare you for future success?
A: The culture at Stratford encourages students to be involved in countless activities inside and outside of school. Especially this year, being in the National Honor Society has given me multiple opportunities to volunteer at food banks, churches, etc. Giving back to the community brings such a light to my life that I cannot find anywhere else.

Q: How do you think the Northbrook High School community has helped prepare you for future success?
A: Many of the people I have met always have their mindset on helping, especially if they are part of the Honor Society. Volunteering in places like John Knox, The Houston Arboretum, and The Houston Rodeo made me realize that it could be very fun getting to know different people and how help can put a smile on anyone’s face.
Evelyn Flores, Northbrook High School
Q: How do you think the Northbrook High School community has helped prepare you for future success?
A: Northbrook helped me because of the openness of those around me who were always looking for ways to help each other. The community at Northbrook is very open because they understand you and your struggles no matter what your background is. Classmates and teachers don’t judge you. Considering the generosity of everyone at Northbrook, I saw it only fair to try to return the favor. I will represent Northbrook the best I can, volunteer around the community, and look out for people when they need help.
