SBISD high schools earn Gold Recognition on 2025 AP® School Honor Roll

Spring Branch Independent School District (SBISD) is proud to announce that Memorial High School (MHS) and Stratford High School (SHS) have both earned Gold-level recognition on the 2025 Advanced Placement® (AP) School Honor Roll.

The Advanced Placement® (AP) School Honor Roll, launched by the College Board in 2023, recognizes schools that deliver college-level outcomes while expanding access to advanced coursework. Schools earn distinction by meeting rigorous benchmarks across three indicators:

College Culture, measuring student participation in AP® coursework
College Credit, measuring performance on AP® Exams, including scores of 3 or higher
College Optimization, measuring sustained engagement through multiple AP® courses and exams, including early participation

Earning Gold status requires schools to meet all three measures. This is evidence not only of access, but of depth, persistence, and achievement. Research consistently shows that students who earn scores of 3 or higher on AP® Exams are more likely to succeed in college and complete a postsecondary degree.

Both Memorial and Stratford have been recognized Honor Roll in prior years. This year’s Gold designation reflects continued, intentional growth. It reinforces what SBISD families have seen firsthand for years. SBISD schools offer rigorous pathways that prepare students for college and career success.

“For more than a decade, SBISD has been committed to a vision that ensures Every Child graduates prepared for success no matter their path,” said Dr. Jennifer Blaine, Superintendent of Schools. “This recognition affirms that students are not just participating in advanced coursework, but succeeding in it.”

Other SBISD high schools demonstrate academic rigor through equally demanding approaches tailored to their students.

Westchester Academy for International Studies (WAIS) delivers a globally recognized International Baccalaureate program.
Spring Woods High School (SWHS) integrates advanced academics with early college opportunities and dual credit.
Northbrook High School (NHS) continues to expand access to advanced coursework while strengthening academic supports through early college programs such as RISE.
Additionally, students at every SBISD high school have access to Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs that lead to industry-recognized certifications.

These opportunities, combined, reflect SBISD’s long-standing, districtwide commitment to preparing Every Child for T-2-4 success. Congratulations to MHS and SHS on this accomplishment.
