Spring Branch ISD named a TAEA District of Distinction for outstanding Visual Arts program for a third consecutive year
 

 

For the third year in a row, Spring Branch ISD has been awarded the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) District of Distinction Award for its leadership in promoting visual arts within the district and the community. 

“The credit behind this recognition goes to the hard-working and endlessly creative art educators who ensure that SBISD offers high quality and innovative visual arts programming to our students,” said Lindsay Ripley, SBISD Visual Arts Coordinator. “Being recognized as a District of Distinction through the Texas Art Education Association means that Visual Art continues to be prioritized by the district and the community at large. It is an honor to work alongside our amazing SBISD art educators and to be a part of such a supportive community of artists and art appreciators.” 

To be considered, SBISD submitted documentation showcasing excellence in providing a well-rounded education that advocates for and integrates visual arts curriculum. 

Programming documented for judging for the TAEA award of distinction included:

  • Administration and Supervision Conference session (Representative attends TAEA conference)
  • Art Teachers Membership
  • Collaboration with other disciplines (integrated lesson plans, cross-curricular units, etc.) 
  • Community service projects 
  • District exhibition 
  • Field trip experiences to museums, galleries and workshops 
  • Junior Visual Arts Scholastic (JVASE) 
  • Social media presence (promoting the visual arts) 
  • Texas Association of School Administrators/Texas Association of School Boards Show 
  • Texas Big Art Day 
  • Texas Elementary Art Meet (TEAM)
  • Visual Arts Advocacy (Advocacy articles promoting visual arts event) 
  • Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) 
  • Youth Art Month Show (Capitol Show)
