SBISD named CTE District of Distinction by CTAT

Spring Branch Independent School District (SBISD) is proud to announce its selection as a Career and Technical Education (CTE) District of Distinction by the Career and Technical Association of Texas (CTAT).

This recognition celebrates districts across Texas that demonstrate exemplary leadership, innovation, and a commitment to student success through high-quality CTE programs.

The CTAT program highlights districts that excel in workforce readiness, foster innovation in CTE, and inspire others with their dedication to student achievement and community impact. Honored districts serve as models of excellence, showcasing best practices and driving progress in CTE statewide.

“Our selection as a CTE District of Distinction is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our educators, administrators, and students,” said Dr. Jennifer Blaine, superintendent of schools. “SBISD is leading the way in providing robust, future-focused CTE opportunities that prepare our students for success. It's critical to our vision of T-2-4 for Every Child.”

Recent initiatives that contributed to the district’s recognition include expanding industry partnerships, introducing specialized career pathways, and achieving remarkable student outcomes, such as high rates of industry-based certifications and internships that lead to career opportunities.

“Over the past several years, our team has worked diligently to develop and refine processes that provide us with reliable baseline data and track key indicators of high-quality CTE programs,” said Christina RiceImumwen, director of career and technical education. “This data-driven approach has been instrumental in guiding our continuous improvement and ultimately played a significant role in our selection for this honor.”

“I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished,” said Nicole Henneke, SBISD CTE coordinator. “As we continue to build pathways that prepare students to be career-ready, we remain focused on creating limitless opportunities. The future for our kids is limitless in SBISD.”

RiceImumwen will be presented with a plaque and banner during the first week of February, in conjunction with CTE Month. The district will also be recognized on stage at the CTE Midwinter Conference in San Antonio, taking place February 10-12.
