Spring Branch ISD welcomes back Spring Branch Middle Principal

Spring Branch ISD welcomes back Stefanie Spencer as principal at Spring Branch Middle School. Ms. Spencer joined the middle school campus in November 2018.

Principal Spencer has 22 years of experience and service in public education. Prior to her recent appointment, she served as Sherwood Elementary principal for nine years.  She has been a successful school administrator for 19 years.

In addition to her career in SBISD, Principal Spencer has worked in four school districts – Bryan, Pearland, Alief and Goose Creek ISDs – as a teacher, assistant principal and principal. In 2000, she worked as an intern at the U.S. Dept. of Education in Washington, D.C., with former National Teacher of the Year Terry Dozier, who was an advisor to then-Secretary of Education Richard Riley.

Principal Spencer first earned her bachelor of science degree in interdisciplinary studies from Texas A&M University in College Station, then a master’s degree in educational administration from the same Texas institution of higher learning.

“It is my honor to be named the new principal/lead learner of Spring Branch Middle School,” Principal Spencer told families as her appointment was first announced. Her goals focus on capitalizing on the strengths of the community, which include an active PTA; dedicated, engaged and experienced staff members; and students ready to meet the district’s single T-2-4 goal (technical certification, military service, or a 2- or 4-year college degree) for all its graduates.

“In all that we do, we will keep our vision for the future in our hearts and mind: SBMS will be a learning community that values differences and encourages high achievement in all students towards T-2-4 success,” Principal Spencer has said.

“We will strive to ensure that our Spring Branch Middle Bears adopt the key tenets of punctuality, preparedness, politeness, productivity and positivity. A student with that kind of mindset is one who is prepared for bright future that they command,” the new principal has also said.

Principal Spencer replaced Bryan Williams, who is a Community Superintendent serving in SBISD administration.
