Get your pink on and don’t miss this all-singing, all-dancing, feel-good musical comedy!
The award-winning Stratford Playhouse will be presenting “Legally Blonde the Musical” Jan. 19-23 at the Morris Cultural Arts Center at Houston Baptist University.
This Broadway musical sensation is based on the hit movie of the same name and follows college sweetheart and homecoming queen Elle Woods, played by Maddy Fields, as she puts down the credit card, hits the books, and heads for Harvard Law School in pursuit of her boyfriend Warner, played by Michael Deis, who just dumped her for someone more serious. There she encounters Professor Callahan played by Cameron Majewski and proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style. “Legally Blonde the Musical” will take you from the social whirl of California campus life to Harvard's halls of justice with our heroine Elle, her Chihuahua, Bruiser, and the bulldog-toting-hairdresser Paulette, played by Kerri Whitton.
“This cast is truly incredible. The energy and talent in the room during rehearsal is unmatched, and I know this show is going to be beyond amazing,” student director Clara Creed said.
The Stratford Playhouse is currently under construction as part of the 2017 Spring Branch ISD Bond and is scheduled to reopen Spring 2022. “Legally Blonde the Musical” will be performed, instead, at the Morris Cultural Arts Center located at 7502 Fondren Road in Houston.
Tickets for “Legally Blonde the Musical” are $20 and are available for purchase online at shsplayhouse.org. Performances are scheduled for Jan. 19-22 at 7:30 p.m., with matinee performances at 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 22 & 23.
In addition to the show, the cast is also sharing their love for local dogs awaiting their fur-ever homes. Benefitting Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP), each performance will serve as a dog food drive – look for drop-off stations in the lobby. See additional ways to help below.
