Spring Oaks Middle honored by Houston Loves Teachers

The Houston Loves Teachers initiative is a citywide outreach and support program that aims to recognize the remarkable educators who are making a positive impact in the community.

Recently, the program, in partnership with Harris County Sports Authority, Good Reason Houston, and Donors Choose celebrated Spring Oaks Middle School Science teacher Edith Lewis and principal Mary Lou Davalos with a surprise visit.

Lewis was awarded a $1,000 Donors Choose Gift Card for use in her classroom, and Davalos received a $4,000 gift card for the campus. The presentation was attended by Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom S. Ramsey and SBISD Community Superintendent Bryan Williams. Both shared their congratulations and emphasized the importance of supporting educators who are making a difference in the lives of children and families.

“We want to show our appreciation for what you do for kids and the community,” said Commissioner Ramsey to both Lewis and Davalos.

Spring Branch ISD was one of twelve school districts located within Precinct 3 selected for the recognitions. Lewis was also named Campus Teacher of the Year for her school in 2024.

Congratulations to our amazing Cougars! Thank you to Houston Loves Teachers for this recognition.
