If you are not humming or singing a Broadway show tune in the weeks ahead, you can’t blame Spring Branch ISD theater students.

Talented district high school actors, musicians, and directors are offering multiple chances to be inspired and uplifted by a huge variety of new musical shows.

From Disney’s High School Musical Jr. at Northbrook High to Singin’ in the Rain at Memorial High, to The Drowsy Chaperone at Stratford High and two matinee sing-alongs of Mamma Mia! at Spring Woods High, the next few weeks are shaping up to be musical nirvana for theater fans of all ages.

Northbrook High students will even bring the hunchbacked bell-ringer of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris to life in February with Quazimodo, a UIL student play. How’s that for incredible and international variety?

Student theater and musical offerings return in April, hitting both serious and big musical notes. Westchester Academy will offer Almost, Maine, a set of short plays exploring love and loss in a mythical, “almost-town.” Willy Wonka Jr. is sure to be a child-in-all-of-us pleaser at Spring Forest Middle, and Stratford Playhouse brings a campus version of Mamma Mia! to Northbrook High’s stage while a new auditorium rises on Stratford’s campus, thanks to 2017 Bond program funding.

Advance ticket purchases are encouraged for these popular shows. Tickets can be purchased online or at school box offices. District residents who are STAR Card holders should check with campuses or box offices in advance to determine the best opportunities and personal ticketing options.
