The School Zone: News

(Spanish)

Dear SBISD Families and Staff,

I’m writing to inform you that SBISD will continue to implement the LearnSBISD plan and its protocols, including the wearing of face masks or coverings by all students and adults in our schools and facilities.

Yesterday, Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order ending statewide COVID restrictions and the state’s mask mandate, effective Wednesday, March 10.

Our decision was made following guidance from the Texas Education Agency (TEA), which was issued today, and after consultation with our medical partners at Memorial Hermann, as well as guidance from local, state and national government and health agencies.

We prioritize the health and safety of the SBISD Family. This school year, LearnSBISD health and safety protocols have allowed us to keep our schools open. We have now welcomed approximately 78% of our students back in-person and maintained student learning and academic progression in a safe environment amid this pandemic.

The LearnSBISD plan can be found here. If you have questions, I encourage you to reach out to your Campus Safety Officer.

Collaborative Spirit and Collective Greatness are more important than ever; I appreciate our families and staff working together to protect each other, our campuses and our community.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Blaine, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
