Tiger Volleyball raising expectations

For Head Volleyball Coach Brandi De La Rosa, the 2025 season at Spring Woods High School (SWH) is all about turning potential into power and making a strong run at the playoffs.

“Our strengths this season are the kids’ desire and commitment,” De La Rosa said. “They’ve shown up every single day ready to work, and they’re excited for what’s ahead. That energy makes all the difference.”

Building confidence and offense

While SWH has built a reputation for consistent defense, this year’s focus is on becoming a more complete, attacking team.

“We can pick the ball up and defend well, but now we want to be the hard hitters giving it back,” De La Rosa explained. “We’re working on being more of an offensive threat so that we can pressure teams on both sides of the ball.”

That evolution reflects the program’s broader identity—balancing grit and resilience with a fearless, attacking mindset.

Goals for the season

The Lady Tigers aren’t shy about their expectations.

“Our number one goal is to get back to the playoffs,” De La Rosa said. “We’d also love to be undefeated district champs. We set big goals because I know this group can reach them.”

Players to watch

Several returning standouts will play key roles in reaching those goals:

  • Adriana Castro, OH – A senior coming back from an ACL injury, Castro’s speed and impact at the net help accelerate the team’s offense.
  • Idelmaris Prado, MB – A senior whose blocking presence and powerful hitting make her a two-way force at the net.
  • Jasmine Rodriguez, L – A junior and three-year captain who anchors the defense while bringing relentless energy and leadership.

“Jasmine has been our captain since her sophomore year,” De La Rosa said. “It’s a lot of responsibility for someone so young, but she’s handled it beautifully.”

Leadership and culture

Leadership is central to the Tigers' climb in the district. Rodriguez’s steady voice and competitive fire set the tone, but the team is embracing a shared approach to accountability and encouragement.

“We want leaders who bring positivity and make their teammates better,” De La Rosa said. “That’s what will carry us through tough matches.”

Looking ahead

With hungry athletes, experienced returners, and a clear vision, Spring Woods volleyball enters 2025 determined to raise the bar.

“This team is driven,” De La Rosa said. “They’re not just showing up—they’re working for something bigger. I believe they’re ready to surprise people and make this a season to remember.”
