Tigers ready for Friday Nights: Coach Rohrs builds experience into success

The Tigers of Spring Woods High School are entering the 2025 football season with something they didn’t have a year ago—experience. After playing a host of young athletes last fall, Campus Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Andrew Rohrs is optimistic about what his returning players can bring to the field.

“Last year, a lot of our kids were thrown into varsity action early,” Rohrs said. “Now they’ve got in-game experience, and that’s going to help us be successful this season.”

Building complete student-athletes

The offseason was all about strengthening not just the body, but also the mind.

“Our kids worked incredibly hard,” Rohrs said. “We put a major emphasis on strength and conditioning, but also on their football IQ—helping them understand the game at a deeper level so they’re prepared when the lights come on Friday night.”

Rohrs also emphasized the program’s alignment with SBISD’s T-24 Graduate mission, focusing on preparing students for success beyond high school.

“We want to develop the whole student, not just the athlete,” Rohrs said. “That means challenging them academically as well as athletically, and making sure they’re set up for success after graduation.”

Players to Watch

The Tigers will lean on several standout returners to lead the way:

  • Emmanuel Quiroz, RB – A powerful runner who had a stellar offseason and spring. Expect him to carry the load on offense.
  • Noble Thompson, WR/QB – A versatile senior who can line up at receiver, take snaps at quarterback, and make explosive plays all over the field.
  • Julian Robles, S – The “quarterback of the defense,” Robles brings experience and leadership to the secondary.
  • Jack LaFleur, LB – A senior leader who anchors the front seven with toughness and smarts.

Team Goals

Like many programs across Texas, the Tigers are chasing the dream of a playoff berth. But for Rohrs, the goals stretch further than the gridiron.

“Our focus is on putting kids in a position to succeed both on and off the field,” he said. “Yes, we want to qualify for the playoffs, but we also want to see our athletes grow as students and as people. That’s what will truly make this a successful season.”

The Texas Way at Spring Woods

In line with SBISD’s Texas Way, the Tigers are building a culture grounded in sportsmanship, respect, and integrity.

“We want our athletes to represent Spring Woods with pride,” Rohrs said. “It’s about more than football—it’s about building young men who carry themselves the right way in school, in the community, and beyond.”

Looking Ahead

With a veteran core, strong leadership, and a renewed sense of purpose, the Tigers are eager to show how much they’ve grown since last fall.

“Our kids are ready,” Rohrs said. “They’ve put in the work, and now it’s time to see it pay off under the Friday night lights.”
