The SBISD Board of Trustees Recognizes Summer Reading Rockstars

During their regular board meeting on Monday, August 28, the SBISD Board of Trustees celebrated the achievements of SBISD's Summer Reading Rockstars. These dedicated students spent their summer immersed in books and collectively logged over 500,000 minutes of reading as part of the program.

Participants were encouraged to strive for 1,000 hours of reading during the summer break. Research shows that consistent reading during school holidays helps students maintain and improve their reading skills, resulting in greater academic success in the coming school year.

Superintendent Jennifer Blaine and Board President Chris Earnest personally awarded medals to the top 15 readers from elementary, middle, and high school levels.

“We commend our students for their commitment to improving their reading abilities through their participation in the Summer Reading Program,” said Lisa Stultz, director of SBISD's Library & Media Services.

Congratulations to all the Summer Reading Rockstars! Keep up the outstanding work! Special thanks to the Spring Branch Education Foundation for sponsoring program prizes for student participants.
