The Wildcat Way School wins $1,000 Grant in H-E-B Read 3 Big Texas Read In

Spring Branch ISD (SBISD) is proud to announce that The Wildcat Way School has been named one of the winners of the 2025 H-E-B Read 3 Big Texas Read In, earning a $1,000 grant to support the school.

The statewide event, held on September 30, brought together more than 140,000 students across Texas who stopped, dropped, and read at the same time in celebration of National Literacy Month. The event was presented in partnership with the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation.

As part of the Read In, eligible schools were entered into a drawing to win literacy funding. The Wildcat Way School was one of just 11 schools statewide to be selected. Principal Morella Tapia praised the team effort behind the school’s participation, especially Ms. Perez’s class, which dressed up as community helpers for their read-aloud, and Ms. Sandy for her support in coordinating activities.

“We are thrilled to be recognized by H-E-B and grateful for their continued investment in literacy,” said Tapia. “This grant will directly benefit our students by expanding access to books and resources that inspire a love of reading.”

Since launching in 2011, H-E-B’s Read 3 program has promoted the importance of reading at home and supported literacy across Texas by donating more than six million books to children and providing grants to schools, libraries, and literacy organizations.

SBISD extends its thanks to H-E-B and its partners for their ongoing support of literacy in Texas schools.
