Three SBISD Campuses Gain Texas Honor Roll Distinctions

The Spring Branch ISD Board of Trustees has honored three campuses after a nonprofit organization that focuses on data analysis to help improve student achievement and career readiness named them as Texas Honor Roll schools.

The nonprofit Educational Results Partnership (ERP) issued honor roll status to Memorial Middle School, Nottingham Elementary School and the Spring Branch Academic Institute, serving elementary and secondary highly gifted students.

The principals and directors of the three SBISD campuses were recognized during the Board of Trustees regular monthly meeting on August 26.

ERP states that Honor Roll schools “have demonstrated consistently high levels of student achievement, improvement in achievement levels over time, and reduced achievement gaps among student populations,” according to an ERP press release issued with annual school and district honor roll results.

Marilyn Reznick, ERP’s board chair, says that this recognition program is the only one of its kind in Texas based solely on objective achievement data; ERP has a top goal of achieving better educational outcomes for students nationwide.

ERP’s Honor Roll program is part of a wider effort to recognize successful school systems and promote proven solutions to improve student outcomes. “Our goal is to guide other educators to data-informed best practices for increasing student achievement,” Reznick said in a news release.

Her views were echoed by ERP President and CEO James Lanich. “ERP is all about educational equity and promoting career readiness for all students, regardless of family income, background or neighborhood ZIP Code,” he said.

“These Honor Roll schools and districts are living proof that our students can succeed when schools are committed to removing educational obstacles and accelerating student success. By focusing attention on these bright spots among our schools, we hope to change the conversation from ‘what’s wrong’ to ‘what’s working,’ and encourage others to replicate their success,” Lanich also said.

In Texas overall, 855 schools were named to ERP’s state honor roll. The honoree schools in SBISD will be provided with special banners to display on their campus grounds, according to ERP.
