On Friday, Feb. 25, Spring Branch ISD students and staff celebrated Go Texan Day. As the unofficial kickoff of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR), Go Texan Day is celebrated annually the Friday before the Houston Rodeo commences. It is meant to generate excitement for western heritage and agricultural education and serves as a day for SBISD students and staff to dress in their finest boots, hats and button-ups as they get ready to rodeo!
SBISD Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Blaine visited Cedar Brook Elementary on Go Texan Day to talk with students about their rodeo activities. While at Cedar Brook, she visited classrooms to see students in their finest western wear, chatted with them about what they are currently learning and even stopped by the gym for some Hula Hoop action!
At Housman Elementary, first grade students and staff had family and friends in attendance for a fantastic square-dancing performance! With everyone sporting their best western attire, students, staff, family and friends danced arm-in-arm to close out their celebration of Go Texan Day.
Happy #GoTexanDay, SBISD!
