YES Prep at Northbrook High School Welcomes Director Greg Little

Spring Branch ISD is pleased to welcome Greg Little as the new director for the YES Prep at Northbrook High School campus program. The district supports the public charter high school program as part of the longstanding SKY Partnership between SBISD and the YES Prep and KIPP Public Schools systems.

In SBISD, the SKY Partnership includes a four-year program at Northbrook High plus charter program options at Northbrook Middle (YES Prep) and at Landrum Middle (KIPP Courage) schools.

A native of Baltimore, Md., Little began his career in education as a 2010 Teach For America Corps member in Houston. He taught social studies in North Forest ISD, which became part of Houston ISD, then worked for eight years at YES Prep Fifth Ward. At Fifth Ward, he served many roles, including teacher, grade level chair, athletic director, dean of students, student support director and resident school director. Most recently, he was the resident school director at YES Prep North Central.

Director Little earned his bachelor of arts degree from Ursinus College based in Collegeville, Penn., near Philadelphia. In 2012, he received a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of St. Thomas in Houston.

“I am beyond excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the Raider Nation! I’ve long been an admirer of the unique work that the Raiders have been engaged in as a part of the SKY Partnership,” Director Little said in a statement to YES Prep at Northbrook High families and students.

He noted that that the students at Northbrook High had shown strong performance and improvement on the STAAR EOC (End of Course) exams. Work on restorative justice and identity development in students has also earned the YES Prep program national renown.

“I’m privileged to join you in continuing the work that you all have started in providing an unparalleled education to students in Spring Branch,” he said. “You all have created something special at Northbrook and I am humbled that I might build upon the strong foundation that has been set.”

A big sports fan, Director Little follows all University of Maryland teams, as well as soccer teams ranging from the English Premier League’s Tottenham Hotspurs to Barcelona FC and the Houston Dynamo. He lives in Houston’s historic Fifth Ward neighborhood with his wife, Danielle, and a chocolate Labrador, Zora.

Director Little replaces Bryan Reed, who announced his resignation recently from YES Prep leadership at Northbrook High.
