Thornwood Elementary School (TWE) was abuzz with creativity on Dot Day, as students and teachers embraced the spirit of Peter H. Reynolds' book The Dot.
Students donned vibrant polka-dots, reflecting the excitement that filled the air. Classrooms were alive with art projects and activities inspired by the book, encouraging students to explore their unique talents and express themselves through dot-themed creations.
Principal Sandra Houston inspired both teachers and students to think creatively. The school’s entryway was adorned with an array of individual dots, each designed by students on circle-shaped paper. This display highlighted their creativity and individuality.
TWE’s Dot Day celebration underscores Spring Branch ISD’s (SBISD) commitment to nurturing creativity, confidence, and educational excellence. Events like Dot Day provide students with opportunities to think beyond traditional boundaries, laying the groundwork for self-belief and innovation. In SBISD, fostering the Core Characteristics of a T-2-4 Ready Graduate is essential to the development of future leaders. Thornwood Elementary’s dedication to these values demonstrates how classrooms can inspire students to dream big and make a unique impact on the world.
