The Choice application is for programs that require a lottery for admission. The Transfer application is for families that want to apply to attend a SBISD school where the family is not zoned.

Anyone who currently resides in Spring Branch ISD can apply for a Choice School. All out-of-district applications will be cancelled.For current, full-time employees who live outside the district, your application will be processed. If you have any issues with your application, please send an email to choice@springbranchisd.com and you will get help with your application. Note: All out-of-district applications (who are not for employees' children) will be cancelled.

If the student applying to a choice campus/program currently has a sibling enrolled in the same choice campus/program and will be enrolled in the same choice campus/program the following year, the student will have sibling priority. You will indicate the sibling's name and school in your Choice Application. In addition, the SKY Partnership charter schools (KIPP and YES Prep) will function as one campus in regards to sibling priority. For transfers, siblings are not included as a priority.

If you are applying to Cornerstone Academy, you need to bring your fall/semester 1 report card to the school by the deadline. To get a copy of your report card, see your home school. Cornerstone only accept Fall final report cards. Please wait until January to get a copy of your child's semester 1 report card.

Math at CSA and WAIS is only offered at the Advanced Academic Course (AAC) level with limited spots available in 7th and 8th grade.  The admission of 7th and 8th grade students who are not currently in an AAC math class is subject to a score of 80 or above on the appropriate credit-by-exam math test to determine readiness for advanced math courses in these grades.

You can apply for up to three Choice schools.  When choosing Westchester, you may only choose one program for your student (Westchester IB or Westchester Dual Language).

You will receive email or text message confirmation that your application was received. You may also login to your student’s SchoolMint account to monitor progress of their application.

After the lottery, any child not given an offer will go on a Waitlist that is automatically generated by the SchoolMint program.

All schools accept Waitlist students in order of the original Waitlist that is generated by the certified lottery. Any late applicants are moved to the bottom of the Waitlist.

A common question is what happens when I get accepted to my second choice school? Look at this scenario for three fictional schools. The lottery ran and the child was offered a spot at The Daisy School. The child will still stay on the Waitlist for any school above the ranking; so the child stays on the The Rose School Waitlist through the first three weeks of the new school year. The application is cancelled to The Sunflower School (because the parent accepted The Daisy School).

Residents and employees of SBISD may apply to the Dual Language program. Cedar Brook Elementary and Sherwood Elementary begins at PK, and Pine Shadows Elementary begins at Kindergarten. Because our program is dependent on immersion and a child’s exposure to the second language, there are late entry (beyond Pk or K) requirements.

No, you cannot switch between programs or dual language schools during or after the first year.  You can return to your zoned resident campus.  If your zoned resident campus has a dual language program, you cannot switch to that program.

If you have a question about transportation, please call the respected school. One thing is guaranteed: if you are zoned to the school, then you have transportation. For Transfer schools, you must provide your own transportation.

There is only one lottery. The lottery completes enrollment for all schools, with the rest of the students going to a Waitlist. Refer to the Choice Timeline for the date when the late application window opens.  All late applicants are moved to the bottom of the school's waitlist.

When you log into SchoolMint, you can see the Waitlist number. As spots open up, schools then go to the top of the Waitlist and offer seats. If you get a spot, the school will call you and give you the offer to attend that school. You must accept or decline the offer on SchoolMint. The Waitlist stays open through the third week of the next school year.
