CHOICE PROGRAMS
The Choice Application Window opens Monday, Nov. 11, 2024.
Spring Branch ISD Schools
Your first choice in SBISD is the school to which you are zoned. We believe Every Child can achieve their unique, full potential in a safe, caring and collaborative learning environment. Our educators are empowered to deliver instruction designed to prepare students for both college and career success. Our students are academically prepared, service-minded, self-aware, persistent, adaptable, resourceful, collaborative…and inspired!
Our students graduate with sought-after job skills and future careers. Our schools are communities where students, teachers and parents work together to ensure academic excellence for all learners. We strongly encourage parents to visit their zoned school and determine for themselves which school is the best fit for their student.
We can't wait to meet you and your child!

Two-Way Dual Language
Two-Way Dual Language is a bilingual/biliteracy program model in which students identified as emergent bilingual are integrated with students proficient in English and are served in both English and Spanish. This additive approach enhances academic achievement across all subjects while promoting multicultural understanding and sociocultural competence. Students—both Emergent Bilinguals and English Proficient learners—benefit from integrated instruction in two languages.
Schools offering Two-Way Dual Language programs in SBISD include:
Cedar Brook Elementary, Pine Shadows Elementary, Sherwood Elementary, The Tiger Trail School, Spring Forest Middle, Spring Oaks Middle and Westchester Academy for International Studies
- Benefits Academic Excellence: Research shows that students in Dual Language programs outperform their monolingual peers academically.
- Cultural Appreciation: Participants gain valuable skills in collaboration and cooperation while developing a deep appreciation for diverse cultures.
- Bilingual Competence: Students become proficient in both languages, which opens doors to future opportunities.

SBISD Choice Options
Choice schools are typically smaller, with each having unique academic and social cultures, and SBISD’s charter schools are no different. Westchester Academy for International Studies (WAIS), a combined middle and high school campus offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) academic program, and Cornerstone Academy (CSA) are SBISD’s charter schools.
Math at CSA and WAIS is only offered at the Advanced Academic Course (AAC) level with limited spots available in seventh and eighth grade. The admission of seventh and eighth grade students who are not currently in an AAC math class is subject to a score of 80 or above on the appropriate credit-by-exam math test to determine readiness for advanced math courses in these grades.
