CHOICE PROGRAMS

Neighborhood Schools

Your first choice in SBISD is your neighborhood school. Neighborhood schools are those that serve a particular geographic area in Spring Branch ISD. We believe Every Child can achieve their unique, full potential in a safe, caring and collaborative learning environment. Our educators are empowered to deliver instruction designed to prepare students for both college and career success. Our students are academically prepared, service-minded, self-aware, persistent, adaptable, resourceful, collaborativeand inspired!

Our graduates leave us with sought-after job skills and future careers. Our schools are communities where students, teachers and parents work together to ensure academic excellence for all learners. We strongly encourage parents to visit their neighborhood school and determine for themselves which school is the best fit for their student.

We can't wait to meet you and your child.

Two-Way Dual Language

Two-Way Dual Language in SBISD is an enriched education program that uses two languages, Spanish and English, for instruction. Classes are composed of students: half are native Spanish speakers, and half are native English speakers. Instruction is provided in Spanish and English and incorporates the required academic standards established by the State of Texas.

The program's goal is for students to become bi-literate and proficient in both languages by the end of the fifth grade. Schools offering Two-Way Dual Language programs in SBISD include Cedar Brook Elementary, Pine Shadows Elementary, The Tiger Trail School, and Sherwood Elementary.

Charter Programs

Charter schools are typically smaller, each with unique academic and social cultures, and SBISD’s charter schools are no different. Westchester Academy for International Studies (WAIS), a combined middle and high school campus offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) academic program, and Cornerstone Academy, are SBISD’s in-house charter schools.

SBISD also offers two partner charter school programs, KIPP Houston (KIPP) and YES Prep Public Schools (YES Prep), located at Landrum and Northbrook middle schools and Northbrook High School, respectively.
