AYAM - Art Museum

 

Altharetta Yeargin Art Museum Mission Statement 

The Altharetta Yeargin Art Museum mission is to provide opportunities for SBISD students, parents and the surrounding community, to experience the art of diverse cultures, to understand the cultural and historical significance of art and to develop criticial thinking and viewing skills.

We strive to further collect, preserve and display art objects, in order to provide interdisciplinary instruction and to promote artistic activity in the community.

 


Study Trips, Road Shows and Last Saturdays

AYAM's events are always fun and educational!

  • Study trips to the museum are scheduled for all second graders from the 25 elementary schools in SBISD.  
  • Road Show for first graders featuring works from the museum will be offered to all SBISD elementary schools. 
  • Road Show for kindergarteners featuring a read aloud and an art project will be offered to all SBISD elementary schools.
  • The Last Saturday of the month we host "Last Saturday at the Museum" Open Houses with activities for students and adults. 
  • During the summer kids 4-11 join us for Tall Tales and Art. 
  • Adult workshops are offered throughout the year, with a variety of art projects offered.

Funding for these programs has been provided by the Spring Branch Education Foundation, First Junior Woman's Club of Houston, and our wonderful museum members.

Spring Branch Independent School District has built an art museum that is one of the most innovative learning environments and community resources in the United States.

AYAM strives to be both meaningful and relevant to all grade levels and areas of academia through its exhibits and programs and offers learning opportunities and cultural advantages to the entire community in order to enrich the educational and cultural environment of Spring Branch.
