Harvey Guarantee

In the Fall of 2017, the city of Houston experienced Hurricane Harvey.  As a district, we responded to the needs of our families. Because so many of our families were displaced from their residence, we created a permanent transfer to guarantee each child's school and feeder pattern, despite where you currently live.

The Harvey Guarantee Letter

SBISD sent official Harvey Guarantee letters to all known Harvey families that lived in district at the time of Harvey.  Each family received a personalized letter that shows the pre-Harvey address and the guaranteed feeder patterns. Students who originally received a Harvey Guarantee letter has that letter in the student's Personal Record (PR) Folder. A master copy of all Harvey Guarantee families is kept in the Administration office.

To be guaranteed the Harvey Guarantee:

  1. Your family was residing in SBISD on August 25, 2017, and had a child attending a SBISD school to which the family was zoned as of that date; and
  2. You completed a Student Residency Questionnaire (SRQ) by June 1, 2018, affirming the family's displaced status that has been approved by our Department of External Funding.

Deadline Expired

June 1, 2018 was the deadline for applying for a Harvey Guarantee transfer. There are no additional transfers granted, except to eligible siblings of current Harvey Guarantee families.
