Spring Branch ISD (SBISD) is proud to announce that alumni from Memorial High School have earned recognition for their exceptional work in the 2024 I Am Texas writing and art contest, hosted by The Bryan Museum in Galveston.

Renae Wang earned second place in high school art for her compelling piece, "Hands On," and was awarded $500. Hannah Kim received an honorable mention in the high school art category for her artwork, "Texan Love." Both students showcased remarkable creativity and skill, highlighting the outstanding visual arts programs within our district.

This year’s competition featured a range of categories for students in grades 2 through 12, including art inspired by the "I Am Texas" theme, elementary letter writing to Texas heroes, and middle and high school short stories, research, and personal essays influenced by artifacts in The Bryan Museum’s collection.

Artwork will be on display at The Bryan Museum from September 25 through November 24. A special reception honoring all finalists, including Renae and Hannah, will be held at the museum on Sunday, November 24. Each finalist’s work will be published in the 2024 I Am Texas Historian’s Journal, becoming part of The Bryan Museum’s permanent library collection.
