As Spring Woods High School (SWHS) prepares for this year’s homecoming festivities, alumni like Francis Quintanilla (Class of 2010) are contributing to the excitement.
Quintanilla, who now works as a receptionist at her alma mater, is looking forward to experiencing homecoming for the first time since her graduation.
A former member of the school’s band, Quintanilla fondly recalls the lessons of dedication, punctuality, and commitment she learned from her band directors. "Band was a huge part of my high school experience," Quintanilla said. "It taught me so much about dedication and teamwork, lessons that have stayed with me."
This year’s homecoming holds special significance for Quintanilla. “It’s like coming full circle,” she said. “I’m thrilled to experience the excitement of homecoming again, from the pep rally to the big game.”
Quintanilla’s pride in her school is clear. “Homecoming is important because it’s a rite of passage, much like prom. It gets students excited and ready for the festivities,” she noted. “I hope the students feel a sense of TIGER PRIDE and know that I’m here to support them in any way I can.”
Since Quintanilla’s time as a student, SWHS has seen significant changes, including new classes and opportunities. “I’m impressed,” she said. “It’s great to see new courses and programs that help students achieve more, such as earning associate degrees and scholarships.”
Quintanilla aims to continue supporting the success of future generations. “Amazing is the word I would use to describe my high school experience. I’m proud to be back and excited to see how the school has grown,” she said.
Quintanilla’s transition from student to staff member highlights her deep connection to SWHS and her commitment to its current students. This homecoming, she’s not just revisiting her past but also playing a role in shaping the future.
