The Spring Branch ISD Council of PTAs recently gathered for its annual Founders Day dinner to recognize the leaders, educators and volunteers who strengthen our schools through advocacy, partnership and service.
The evening celebrated award nominees, announced the 2026 School Bell Award recipient and honored SBISD educators and volunteers with Texas PTA Honorary Life Membership and Extended Service Awards.
Each year, the School Bell Award recognizes an outstanding SBISD staff member who advances the mission of PTA and advocates for all children. The honor reflects PTA’s enduring commitment to protecting the safety, health and well being of students, strengthening family school partnerships and supporting strong public education.
2026 School Bell Award Recipient - Coach Lance Mosby, Stratford High School (SHS)
Some individuals serve loudly. Others serve steadily. Coach Lance Mosby serves with consistency, humility and heart.
Originally connected to SHS as a parent, Coach Mosby entered education after more than 30 years running his own business. What began as substitute teaching quickly evolved into a full time role. It did not take long for students, families and colleagues to recognize the depth of his commitment.
In moments of crisis, he leads with calm. When a student experienced a medical emergency, Coach Mosby administered first aid, remained present until paramedics arrived and later went to the hospital to support the family. His message was simple and clear: the child’s well being mattered most.
When restrooms needed repair, he quietly used his off periods to walk the building with tools in hand, fixing what he could and easing the load on custodial staff. No announcement. No spotlight. Just service.
When help was needed on the baseball field, he stepped forward again. Parents consistently share that he teaches far more than athletics. He models integrity, composure and accountability. He connects personally with students and earns trust through authenticity.
Colleagues describe him as someone who simply asks, “What’s next?” and steps in wherever needed.
For his steady leadership, compassion and commitment to students, Coach Lance Mosby was named the 2026 SBISD School Bell Award recipient.
Texas PTA Honorary Life Membership and Extended Service Awards
One of the most meaningful moments of the evening was the recognition of the Texas PTA Honorary Life Membership and Extended Service Award recipients.
These are among the highest honors bestowed by Texas PTA. They recognize individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and made a lasting impact within their school communities.
These volunteers and leaders give generously of their time, talent and energy to ensure students experience safe, supportive and enriching learning environments. Their work strengthens campuses today and builds momentum for the future.
