Spring Branch ISD is thrilled to welcome new and returning students and their families to the 2023-24 school year on Wednesday, Aug. 16. The beginning of each school year is always an exciting time and SBISD is looking forward to seeing all the success, learning and opportunities it will bring to Every Child.
This school year, there are some important changes all students and families should know!
Middle School Bell Schedule
SBISD has modified the middle school bell schedule for the 2023-24 school year. The first bell will ring at 8:35 a.m., the tardy bell will ring at 8:40 a.m. and the dismissal bell will ring at 4 p.m. The bells for early learning, elementary, high, Choice and Sky Partnership schools will remain the same.

SBISD Secondary Letter Grade Adjustment for NCAA Eligibility
This school year, SBISD will replace the D letter grade on report cards with a C-. While there is no impact on class ranks, GPA’s or course rigor for all students, the change benefits our student-athletes who seek to play collegiate sports.
Many school districts in Texas and across the country have made the change in support of their student-athletes to better align with NCAA eligibility requirements.
SBISD secondary report cards and transcripts show number grades, not letter grades. The new C- will be calculated the same way as the D was previously calculated in the grading scale.
Updated grading scale:
A – 90-100
B – 80-89
C – 75-79
C- – 70-74
F – 69 and below
Community Eligibility Provision Campuses (Meals at No Cost)
SBISD campuses that participate in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), will continue to serve breakfast and lunch meals at no cost to all students. Those attending a CEP campus will complete the online Income Survey at www.schoolcafe.com/springbranchisd or through the Skyward Parent Portal.

Meals at No Cost Now Available for Eligible Students at Select Schools this School Year
Students who qualify for Reduced-Priced Breakfast and Lunch this upcoming school year will now receive meals at no cost at the following campuses:
Elementary: Bunker Hill, Frostwood, Hunters Creek, Meadow Wood, Memorial Drive, Nottingham, Rummel Creek, Valley Oaks, Wilchester
Middle: Memorial, Spring Branch Middle, Spring Forest, Westchester
High: Memorial, Stratford, Westchester
This initiative aims to ensure that eligible students have access to nutritious meals. Families with students attending the schools listed above are encouraged to apply to potentially receive these benefits by completing the Free and Reduced Application.

Volunteer Application
Volunteer supports make great things happen in SBISD!
The 2023-24 volunteer application is officially open and those interested are encouraged to apply. All applicants will undergo an approval process. Those approved to volunteer during the 2022-23 school year must reapply as the approval status is only valid through Sept. 30, 2023. All returning volunteers must be re-registered and approved for the 2023-24 school year by Oct. 1, 2023.
